Glamorous and Graceful Gladioli

The long elegant stems of these pink Gladioli were irresistible to me when I was out on a recent shopping trip.

To me they are the one flower that can instantly glam up an ordinary  corner in the house. Even as they bend the arching is so graceful it’s like watching a ballerina stretch.

Here are some pics of them.

Flowering Geraniums

Technically it’s still Winter in Northern California but that doesn’t seem to be hindering the geraniums. They keep producing buds and blooms at regular intervals from their rather shady spot in the garden. Here are a few samples.

Sweet Gardenia for my Mum

The Gardenia plant at our back door is steadily producing more blooms. I often take a look at them or just get a whiff of their sweet fragrance. I wanted to take a pic of one as tomorrow is my Mum’s first birthday since her death and they remind me of her and my grandfather. I think this is the best pic I’ve taken of one so far. Seems apt.

Salmon Pink Geraniums

The Salmon Pink Geranium in my garden is not very big nor is it a prolific bloomer which is no surprise considering how little water it gets during the drought but every now and then it blooms and it’s wonderful to watch it emerge.

In the rose garden

Stopped at the rose garden in the local park this morning after going for a nice bike ride. Some rather lovely blooms. Flower gardens are my happy place!

Orange Sunflowers

I have been waiting to get my hands on a bunch of these beauties. Found some at a local supermarket yesterday. Lovely vibrant colour and they just look so different to the yellow I am accustomed too.

Blue Agapanthus

Blue Agapanthus have now started to bloom. I saw a hummingbird feeding on one the other day but didn’t have a camera handy. That would make a pretty pic. Meanwhile I took a few of the blue buds and blooms.

Emerging White Agapanthus

Not much time for photography or to blog at the moment but just had to share this emerging white Agapanthus. At my childhood home we got very accustomed to the blue variety but finding a white one was special.

Horde of Honeysuckle

The area in the park that earlier in Spring was sporting a Wall of Wisteria has now been replaced by a Horde of Honeysuckle. Their wonderful fragrance filled the air and nearby a group did their Tai Chi in the morning sun playing wonderful soothing music. Perfect atmosphere for fun photography.

First roses blooming

I get so excited when I see buds and can’t wait for the flower to fully reveal itself. I have been watching the rosebushes closely and now the first one is in full bloom.
