This shrub is in our front garden and I really enjoy watching the tiny flowers open until the whole cluster is in full bloom. It’s that time of year when the buds are about to open – can’t wait 🙂

The delicate blooms of Lisianthus are really lovely to behold and look a bit like roses but without the thorns. They have a romantic, dreamy look about them hence their popularity in wedding bouquets.

The soft pink flowers of this Rose Mallow (Lavatera Trimestris) is really pretty but what fascinated me was the fluffy centre that looked like a bit of candyfloss. Rose Mallow is related to Hibiscus and Hollyhocks.

Had lots to do today but got distracted by the beautiful shades and scent of a bouquet of Sweet Peas. My daughter picked them yesterday while visiting a kind grandmother that lives nearby.

This lovely specimen is blooming in my neighbour’s garden. Peonies are simply stunning.
So I have discovered that all azaleas are rhododendrons but not all rhododendrons are azaleas. Although after reading the distinguishing characteristics to differentiate between them it has not made things much easier.
What I have gathered is that the number of stamens is important and the fewer there are the more likely it’s an azalea. The little hairs on the leaves also have to run in a particular direction for azaleas but when taking pictures I am just captivated by the sheer beauty of the blooms.
