The garden in the morning
I’ve had very little time for photography recently but I managed a quick look around the garden this morning. Nice to know there is prettiness even when there is littleĀ time to fully appreciate it.

Pink Rose Swirl
When so many roses are blooming at once I don’t always notice the uniqueness of each bloom. I happened to see this low hanging pink bloom and bent down to take a look and noticed the magnificent symmetry of it’s centre swirl.

Graphic gradients
Every artist would like to create something unique. Something special and memorable that draws one nearer and is intriguing. In my quest to find that special something to make my images unique I keep experimenting. Today’s experiment is with radial gradient fills. Some of them I like, some of them I don’t but nothing ventured means nothing gained.

Rose in the light, just right
I am having plenty of opportunities to photograph roses in a variety of light conditions. Sometimes the shots work and sometimes they don’t. This one just worked for me. Sometimes flower photography is like golf – after a number of rotten shots you can get deflated but it takes just one great shot to keep you coming back for more š

Pink Roses
The rose bushes seem to be competing with each other to produce the most blooms. They look so lovely and the nice thing is we can share the bounty with our neighbours who all received fresh bunches this week.

Garden surprise
The nice thing about moving to a new house in winter is having very little idea of what to expect in the garden in spring. Our garden has been producing lots of lovely surprises and the latest one is one of my favourites – a peony bud! The two buds on display at the moment are somewhat small but I am very excited to see the colour of the bloom. There are several other lovely blooms to behold, the roses continue to enchant with a yellow variety and the lemon tree is now in blossom.

Roses for the Lady Amy
I was really touched today by the comments and responses of a fellow blogger to my posts on roses. Seldom have I received such a heartfelt and warm response to my photographs and it was clearly from someone who is equally enraptured by the beauty of roses. Since my garden is alive with them at the moment I picked a few and put them in a vase just for her! So these are for you Lady Amy ! A pink rose in the rain
The smallest rose bush in the garden produces a really lovely little rose that I have dubbed “fluffy”. It is a full bloom with several lusciousĀ layers of petals that would look gorgeousĀ asĀ a ruched and ruffled dress. It has taken a pounding in the recent cold and rain but still looks so charming.
